PBS fires back at Mitt Romney after presidential debate
The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) released a strongly-worded statement yesterday condemning Mitt Romney’s pledge to end federal support for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports PBS’ many member station. Romney said during the debate that while he liked Big Bird, he didn’t believe in public money for America’s public (and widely-respected) television stations. This drew a sharp rebuke from PBS. “Governor Romney does not understand the value the American people place on public broadcasting and the outstanding return on investment the system delivers to our nation”, the network said on behalf of its member stations.
