Mayor Kevin Johnson reveals 'very strong' bid to keep Kings in Sacramento
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson isn’t giving up his city’s National Basketball Association franchise without a fight. Yesterday, the mayor announced that two wealthy businessmen had stepped up to put a counteroffer for the team on the table. The team’s current majority owners, the Maloofs, announced they were selling their stake in the team to a group led by Chris Hansen last month. Hansen wants to move the Kings to Seattle and rechristen them the Sonics.
